On 14th August, the Pre-Primary Section held an Independence Day celebration for its pupils. The theme of the celebration was “Being Independent.”

The pupils came dressed in tricoloured T-shirts and their school shorts. In class, they learnt about India’s independence and what freedom means to us. They also enjoyed the tricoloured snacks they had been asked to bring from home.

Following this, the pupils proceeded to the Mary Immaculate Hall, where they were in for a surprise. Their teachers presented an informative and engaging skit depicting the period of British rule in India and the struggle for freedom. Through the skit, the pupils gained an understanding of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the importance of independence. They also participated enthusiastically by answering questions about the ways in which they are independent in their daily lives.

The highlight of the celebration was the lively dance performance by all the teachers. The exuberant performance was thoroughly enjoyed by the pupils and added great excitement to the programme.

The pupils also learnt about the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the brave soldiers who continue to safeguard our country. Fr. Yohan and Ms. Mendes addressed the pupils and shared meaningful thoughts on the occasion.

The children were delighted to receive tricoloured badges from the school. The programme concluded on a joyful note, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of pride in being an Indian.
