In the ongoing U17 Dso tournament St Mary’s school ICSE were playing against College Champions Khalsa College team which is known for its prolific record. However, the tables got almost turned when St. Mary’s gave a tough fight to a team which were considered to be favorites even before entering the ground.
Khalsa College opting to bat first posted a total of 87/1 in 12 overs. The match was expected to be a one sided affair but St Mary’s school almost won it. St. Mary’s at one stage were 20/3 after 5 overs before their opener Raadnya Apte and no. 5 batsmen Kush Attawala’s partnership took the match to 27 runs of the last 2 overs. Raadnya smacked the Khalsa College’s strike bowler for 17 runs in the 11th over which included 2 confident sixes but he unfortunately got run out in what could have been one of the most heroic knocks of St.Mary in the recent times.
In the end St Mary’s school gave a very difficult fight to college champions Khalsa. However, Khalsa College won the match by 3 runs but not before St.Mary’s kept them on toes till the very end. The partnership of Kush and Raadnya will be remembered by their mates for a long time while Radnya’s heroic efforts in the 11th over must have made him an overnight favorite in the St.Mary’s squad.
- Khalsa College- 87/1 12 overs
- St Mary’s 84/5 in 12 overs
- Raadnya Apte 54 of 28 with 5 sixes
- Kush Attawala 21 of 17
Even though on paper they lost the match but it’s commendable for a school level team to give College Champions like Khalsa College such a tough fight.
