Immaculata 2019, the much sought after Cultural Event by most of the prominent schools in the city and hosted by St. Mary’s School, ICSE, Mazagaon was spread over two days, 29.06.2019 and 30.06.2019 respectively.
Day one began with the Opening Ceremony in which the father/son duo,the renowned actor, director Mr. Amole Gupte and his very talented son, Partho Gupte were our Guest of Honour and Chief Guest respectively.
The Fashion Show with its theme, “Heaven Ahead” was largely covered on Day One too.The celebrated and renowned judges of the show were Ms Zaara Dastur, Mr Zahan Kanchwala and Ms Rachel, all well-known personalities in the Fashion World.
Day Two covered the other major sections namely Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Literary Arts, Sports Centre, Out of the Box and Bombae Diaries. The events were deliberately chosen to bring out the best in every student present. The highlight of day two was the dance event which revolved round the theme, “The Next Step”. Judging the event were eminent personalities from the world of dancing, namely Pogo, Mr. Sadnis (Faddy) and Ms Rhea.
On day two, we also had in our midst, the well-known Industrialist Mr. Yash Birla.
In addition to the Event Sections, Immaculata-2019 also had a large number of Non-Event Sections like; Hospitality, Logistics, Sponsorship, Finance, Communications, Creatives, Technicals and Security.
Our Principal, Fr (Dr) Francis Swamy, S.J. has always emphasized on the need to keep our environment pollution free. It is during this mega event that our school installed a machine to recycle plastic bottles. Sunday Mid-day News carried an article highlighting and commending our school’s effort in keeping our surrounding pollution free. Thus making us Recycling Pioneers.
Some of the trophies presented to winners were also made of recycled material, namely; recycled acrylic and recycled tetra packs.
This is for the seventh consecutive year that the school has hosted the event successfully, and each year the event has been packed to the hilt. Over the two days, the event saw the participation of about three thousand students from 20 schools, 36 section heads covering 36 major events, over 400 volunteers parents and the entire staff of the school being actively involved.
In addition to the above we also had two International schools participate online in the event, St Xavier’s High School, Nepal and Lycee Jean Paul II, school in Rennes in Brittany, France.
The overall winners at Immaculata-2019 were as follows:
- First – Campion School
- Second – St. Anne’s High School
- Third – G. D. Somani Memorial High School.
The Organizing Committee, under the ever watchful eye of a very supportive, encouraging and motivational Principal, Fr (Dr) Francis Swamy, S.J., and under the guidance of a dynamic Core Committee comprising Mr. Coelho, Ms Mendes and Ms Winsome Mary, were instrumental in the success of Immaculata-2019.Special mention is made of teachers heading/guiding various sections. Their efforts towards Immaculata-2019 has been most commendable.
Immaculata – 2019 was hosted on both days by the very enthusiastic and humorous Mr. Hormuz Ragina. A pure blooded Marian and a veteran master of ceremonies. Hormuz has been conferred with the title of the Best Jam Master of India.
Two days of fun and frolic thus came to an end. The children bid Immaculata-2019 a tearful adieu and now look forward to the Dawn of a New Awakening – Immaculata-2020.
The Legacy Lives On.
