Class 4-3 conducted the morning assembly on July 8 , 2019 on ‘ The Life of St. Ignatius of Loyola ‘, the founder of ‘ The Society of Jesus ‘ , a Christian Religious Order.
The students spoke on how the Society of Jesus is responsible for the education of hundreds of young people belonging to every social class, community and religious group.
The students then spoke about St. Ignatius childhood and youth days but more important on the turning point in the life of Ignatius in 1521, when he was badly injured by a cannon ball that broke one of his leg, in the battle against the French.
The two books ‘ The Golden Legend’ and’ The Life of Jesus ’ brought an unforgettable change when he was resting in the Loyola castle. He began thinking more about God and gave less attention to the earthly things.
The Society of Jesus has established and spread out in many places all over the world. Every Jesuit lives to the motto – ‘For the Greater Gloryof God ’given by St. Ignatius . He was beatified in 1609 and then canonized, receiving the title of a Saint on March 12, 1622 by Pope Gregory XV.
Every year ,the Jesuit priests all over the world observe July 31st ,as the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola -who died of a fever in 1556 in Rome.
The students recited the traditional and the most meaningful prayer of St. Ignatius , which was handed down to the Jesuits –
Teach me Lord to be generous
Teach me to love and serve you as you deserve
To give and not to cunt the cost
To fight and not to heed the wounds
To toil and not to seek for rest
To labour and not to work look for any reward
Save that of knowing that I do Thy Holy will. AMEN
For The Greater Glory Of God.
