Dear Parents,

St Mary’s School ICSE organized its Annual School Exhibition 2018-19 on the 14th February, 2019 in the school premises.

The inaugural ceremony was compered by Mr George Hilbert. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Advocate Ashish Shelar M.L.A. and president of the BJP in Mumbai. He was ceremoniously welcomed by the principal Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Swamy, s.j. The compere gave us a brief background of Advocate Ashish Shelar who is the new face of the youth and has grown from the grassrooot level to his present prestigious position. He comes from a very humble background, born to humble parents from Sindhudurg, who moved to Bandra while still a child. He has always been a people’s man since a very young age and rose quickly through the ranks through hard work, grit and determination.

He’s played a key role in the renovation of Bhau Daji Lad Museum, a vital archive of Mumbai’s rich historical and cultural heritage. To him goes the credit of the redevelopment of several old and dilapidated buildings in Mumbai. Thanks to his efforts, the heritage building of Crawford stands safeguarded.

Inspired by his work, Mr. Ashish Shelar was appointed Governor of the Mumbai Metro Heritage Society. Under his able leadership, he’s handled multiple responsibilities and continued to raise civic issues concerning his constituency.

A devoted party worker. He got a broader platform after he became the President of the Mumbai Unit of the Bhartiya Janata party.

He is a mass leader who fights for the people’s welfare.

He is recognized as a studious orator.

Later Advocate Ashish Shelar – cut the ribbon and inaugurated the Annual School Exhibition.

The other Guest of Honour was Mrs. Suruchi Hirawat. Popularly known as Mrs. India, Earth. A title which she achieved last year.

Mrs Hirawat has done her MBA from Amity Business School, Noida, where she has specialized in Marketing and Human Resource. Her true calling has always been to search for something good and for something higher in everything and in everybody. This was enabled by Access Consciousness.

She is currently a certified Access Consciousness Facilitator which is prevalent in 179 countries.

Mrs. India, Earth encouraged the students by saying that they should believe in themselves. They should not copy others because each one is UNIQUE.“Your uniqueness is needed for the Planet EARTH.”

Before inaugurating the exhibition Adv. Ahsish Shelar addressed the gathering by asking two questions on how many of them surf the internet and the other question was how many of them play video games like – PUBG.

He advised the students that they should watch and play the games only in the presence of parents and teachers, under their supervision and it was good when the parents and teachers were around. But he said that it would be bad if they used the internet on their own in the absence of their parents and teachers. Students should use the Internet responsibly.
