Dear Parents,

At St. Mary’s our mission is to provide our boys an all round development in academics, extracurricular activities and sports.

You may have seen the recent initiatives
our school has been taking to once again revive the culture of “Sports 1st” at St. Mary’s.

To support this endeavour our PTA has set up a Sports Committee comprising parents of both Junior and Senior School.

One of the objectives of our Sports Committee is to tie up with various external sports bodies to help our boys get an opportunity to learn and acquire skills across various sports viz Equestrian, Sailing, Tennis, Golf, etc.

As a first step our Sports Committee has approached the Amateur Riders Club (ARC) at Mahalaxmi Race Course for a tie-up for coaching our boys in Equestrian (Horse Riding).

The syllabus covers the following riding skills:

Syllabus:
1. Holding of reins
2. Mounting and dismounting
3. Posture- sitting deep in the saddle
4. Leg position
5. Rising in the trot
6. Directing the horse
7. Rein contact and halting etc
8. Basic knowledge of tack and saddle
9. Aids for trot
10. Canter
11. Suppling exercise on a horse.
12. Shoeing and grooming of horse

Please note that the ride days and time schedule followed by the Amateur Riders’ Club are as under:

Days : Tuesday to Sunday.(from April 2017)

Morning Timings: 6.00 – 6.30 a. m.
6.35 – 7.05 a. m.

Evening Timings: 5.15 – 5.45 p.m.
5.50 – 6.20 p.m.

For the sake of safety, it is compulsory to have the following:
a) Riding Breeches/Tight jeans with Shirt/T-shirt.
b) Safety Helmet with chin strap.
c) Riding Shoes- Leather with 1” heel (No sports shoes are allowed)

Amateur Riding Club’s riding charges per person per ride for per class is Rs.1000/- + Service Tax @15% which amounts to Rs. 1,150/- but as a special concession to the students of St. Mary’s School, the charges will be Rs. 600/- + Service Tax @15% which amounts to Rs.690/-per session.

Parents have to make their own arrangement for transport of their child to / from the venue.

Should you desire your son to learn equestrian of the coaching facility to learn Equestrian skill(Horse Riding) kindly fill in the intent form (below) with preferred time slot and submit the same on or by March 21st 2017 to Mr. Aloysius Fernandes at the reception counter.

The special rates offered by ARC to St. Mary’s is subject to a minimum number of students signing up.

We will hence be able to confirm to you on the status of the tie-up for the special rates after we have received the total number of participants failing which the boys can still avail of the coaching at the regular charges of ARC.
